India, Jan. 2 -- Starting January 1, folks in Colorado making minimum wage will get a bump in pay, but how tipped workers will be affected varies by city.
In Edgewater, they've taken a unique step by becoming the first city in the state to adopt a new law that lets local governments raise the general minimum wage without also raising the tipped minimum wage.
From 2026, the minimum wage in Edgewater will jump from $16.52 to $18.17, while the tipped minimum wage stays at $13.50 an hour. Employers will still need to fill in the gap if tips don't get workers to the full minimum pay, thanks to a thing called a tip credit.
