India, Nov. 4 -- Democrats took control of both houses of Congress in a dramatic win in the U.S. midterm elections, a result that could help the party take control of the Congress for the final two years of Donald Trump's presidency.

In what is seen as a Referendum on Trump's agenda and policies, Democrat candidates broke through in deep-red states.

With counting in progress, media outlets project Democrats to win up to 258 seats in the House of Representatives and 54 seats in the 100-member Senate.
