India, Nov. 5 -- German stocks climbed higher Thursday morning, lifting the benchmark DAX to a fresh record high in the process, as risk sentiment improved following the victory of the Democrats in the midterm elections easing trade concerns a bit.

Oil's rebound from recent losses, and political tensions in France limited market's upside.

Brent crude futures rose 1.5% to 96.00 a barrel, after plummeting nearly 9% in the previous session to hit a two-month low.
