India, Oct. 8 -- Shares of Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (CMG) are gaining about 7 percent in Thursday morning trading after the Financial Times reported that Starbucks Corp. (SBUX) has explored a potential acquisition of the company, which currently has a market value of nearly $39 billion.

The company's shares are currently trading at $32.74 on the New York Stock Exchange, gaining 6.39 percent in the latest session. The stock opened at $30.68 and touched an intraday high of $33.40. Over the past 12 months, the shares have traded between $28.04 and $42.82.
