India, Oct. 23 -- Canadian stocks edged lower on Friday due to intensifying Middle East tensions. An increase in crude oil price led to a surge in energy sector but rising concerns of higher inflation weighed on other major sectors.
After opening lower than yesterday's close, today the benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index traded negative throughout the session before settling at 35,788.18, down by 185.27 points (or 0.52%).
