India, Aug. 24 -- Canadian stocks inched higher on Monday, adding incrementally to Friday's gains, as investors held away from risky bets to focus on Canada's moves after the collapse of Canada-U.S. trade talks and new tariff threats from U.S. President Donald Trump. In addition, traders dissected the consequences of the massive economic blockade launched by the U.S. against Iran today.

After opening lower than the previous week's close, today the benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index remained volatile throughout the session but gained momentum towards the end of the trading before settling at 36,714.12, up by 93.89 points (or 0.26%).
