India, July 3 -- Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams shared a powerful new rock anthem, "51st State," on Canada Day, July 1.

The track doubles as a celebration of Canadian identity and also a response to the long-standing political rhetoric suggesting Canada could one day become part of the United States.

The track pays tribute to the people, communities, and values that have shaped the country from coast to coast to coast.

"I wanted to write something about Canada because Canada is home," states Adams. "There is more that binds us than divides us. This is a tribute to the pride and spirit of my fellow Canadians - the rest is just noise."
