India, Oct. 23 -- Canadian stocks are likely to open on a weak note on Friday amid concerns about inflation and prospects of interest rate hikes by the Canadian and U.S. central banks. Oil prices are up sharply, while precious metals are notably lower.

Canadian retail sales data, and quarterly earnings updates, as well as U.S. PMI reports are set to make a notable impact on price movements.

In earnings news, Winpak reported earnings per share of $0.60 for the third-quarter, lower than an expected EPS of $0.63. The company had reported an EPS of $0.60 in the year-ago quarter. Third-quarter revenue came in at $312.47 million, compared with $282.97 million a year ago.
