India, Aug. 25 -- The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) shares rose $4.18, or 4.80 percent, to $91.04 on Tuesday, after the bank reported higher third-quarter profit and revenue.

The stock opened at $88.94 and traded between $88.46 and $91.40 during the session on the New York Stock Exchange. It has traded in a 52-week range of $58.77 to $92.04. Trading volume reached 0.90 million shares, compared with an average daily volume of 2.58 million shares.

Net income increased to C$2.778 billion, or C$2.27 per share, from C$2.313 billion, or C$1.84 per share, a year earlier. Adjusted earnings were C$2.28 per share. Revenue rose 11.1 percent to C$10.535 billion from C$9.486 billion.
