France, Feb. 13 -- The competition, which takes place between September and June 2027,will be the first major international tournament for the new head coach of the French national team, who is yet to be named.

Didier Deschamps will take France to the World Cup this summer in the United States, Mexico and Canada, but the 57-year-old former France skipperwill step down after the tournament.

During his 14 years as head coach, Deschamps led the squad to victory at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and the 2021 Nations League against Spain. France made it to the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, losing out to Argentina.
