UML MP Mahar flags rising lawlessness after RSP leader attacked
Nepal, June 16 -- Concern was raised in the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday over a reported violent attack on Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Shailesh Singh in Dhangadhi, Kailali.
Speaking in the HoR session, CPN-UML lawmaker Ain Bahadur Mahar drew the government's attention to the incident, saying Singh was attacked by a group of 7-8 individuals on the night of June 15 while returning home after attending the Sudurpaschim Province convention.
Singh, who had contested the HoR by-election from Bajhang held on March 5 as an RSP candidate, was allegedly subjected to a planned assault.
Mahar said the attackers also looted valuables, including a laptop, watch, mobile phone, and a chain from Singh.
