Two attempt self-immolation in Kathmandu over separate grievances
Nepal, July 22 -- Two people attempted self-immolation at separate locations in Kathmandu on Tuesday, with one citing his inability to meet former King Gyanendra Shah and the other protesting restrictions on roadside vending.
According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, 27-year-old Bishal Tamang of Doramba Rural Municipality-1 in Ramechhap attempted self-immolation outside Nirmal Niwas after failing to meet the former king.
Police said Tamang poured petrol over himself in an apparent attempt to set himself on fire. Officers recovered the petrol and took him into custody before he could carry out the act.
