Nepal, Sept. 12 -- Residents of Tinkar village in Darchula have raised Rs 134,211 for survivors of the Rasuwa floods, while also seeking greater government attention to their remote community, according to a press rThe campaign was launched on August 29 by Kamna Tinkari through a WhatsApp group used by Tinkar residents. Tinkaris living in Darchula, Kathmandu, India and abroad contributed to the campaign, including daughters of Tinkar residents married in India.

According to the press release, the initiative was also driven by the community's own experience with floods and limited government attention. Residents said Tinkar has repeatedly suffered flood damage, with locals often rebuilding damaged roads themselves.
