Nepal, Aug. 8 -- Nepal recorded an average of 82 road accidents and seven deaths every day in the last fiscal year, highlighting the worsening state of road safety in the country, according to police data.

A total of 29,988 vehicle accidents were reported across the country in fiscal year (FY) 2025/26, according to the annual progress report released by Nepal Police. The accidents claimed the lives of 2,707 people, while 6,976 sustained minor injuries and 7,804 suffered serious injuries.

On a daily average, the country recorded 82 road accidents, 130 injuries and seven deaths during the fiscal year.
