Nepal, May 31 -- Traffic police penalized 1,994 drivers across the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours for violating traffic rules, collecting Rs 541,502 in revenue for the state treasury.

Traffic police also took action against 158 drivers for failing to maintain lane discipline, 130 for honking in prohibited areas, 128 for parking on footpaths, and 95 for driving on one-way roads.

The largest share of offenders-962 drivers-were booked for various other traffic violations, the office said.
