Kathmandu, July 29 -- Daily-wage workers under the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Workers' Struggle Committee staged a sit-in protest at NEA's central office on Tuesday, demanding implementation of a two-year-old decision to offer them monthly contracts.

Wearing black armbands in protest, the workers called on the NEA to honor the decision made during its 949th Board meeting on August 16, 2023, which had promised to convert daily-wage contracts into monthly agreements.

Despite multiple assurances and agreements with the struggle committee over time, the decision remains unimplemented, prompting this peaceful demonstration, the committee stated.
