NCP set to lead new Karnali government
Nepal, July 26 -- A new government will be formed in Karnali Province under the leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), following a national power-sharing agreement reached on Saturday between the Communist Party of Nepal, Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML), and the Nepali Communist Party (NCP).
The agreement, signed by UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda", reshapes the earlier provincial power sharing arrangement and has had an immediate impact on Karnali.
The Karnali government led by Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel lost its majority after the Nepali Congress withdrew its support on July 15.
