Nepal, July 30 -- Madhesh-based political parties have called for an impartial investigation into the recent violence in Dewanganj of Sunsari district, justice for the victims and measures to preserve social harmony.

In a joint statement, the parties urged state agencies to exercise utmost restraint and impartiality while dealing with the sensitive situation following the communal tensions. "We express our deep sorrow, concern and sympathy over the situation that has arisen following the tragic incident in Dewanganj, Sunsari," the statement said. They also paid tribute to those killed in the incident, extended condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
