Nepal, Aug. 12 -- Lawmakers in the National Assembly have urged the government to address persistent problems in the sale and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and provide relief to consumers facing difficulties in obtaining cooking gas.

Speaking during the zero hour of the upper house meeting on Wednesday, lawmakers called for greater transparency and better management of LPG imports, sales and distribution. They also questioned why consumers continue to face shortages despite the government's claim that gas imports from India exceed domestic demand.
