KATHMANDU, Oct. 4 -- As the risk of flooding in the Kathmandu Valley increases following 24 hours of incessant rainfall, the Education Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has instructed all community and institutional schools in the city to remain on standby for the relocation of residents living in disaster-prone areas.

The department has confirmed that residents from at-risk settlements along riverbanks are being moved to nearby schools.

Public schools in areas such as Thali, Baneshwor, Koteshwor, and Dobhan have been identified as temporary shelters in coordination with local ward members.
