Nepal, Aug. 19 -- A meeting of the Karnali Provincial Assembly is scheduled to be held today.

Chief Minister Mangal Bahadur Shahi is expected to seek a vote of confidence during the meeting. Shahi registered a letter seeking the vote in the provincial assembly on Monday.

Shahi was appointed chief minister on August 12 with the support of the CPN-UML.

The expansion of the Cabinet has been delayed due to differences between the two parties over the allocation of ministries. Shahi said the Cabinet would be expanded after he secures a vote of confidence from the assembly.

The 40-member Karnali Provincial Assembly has 14 lawmakers from the Nepali Communist Party and 10 from the UML.
