Govt uncertain whether it has original copies of Sugauli, 1950 treaties: FM Khanal
Nepal, Aug. 10 -- Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has said the government does not have confirmed information on whether it possesses the official original documents of the 1816 Sugauli Treaty with Britain and the 1950 Nepal-India Peace and Friendship Treaty.
Responding to a question raised by Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Nishkal Rai at the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, Khanal acknowledged that the government itself was uncertain about the status of the original documents of the two historic treaties.
Rai had asked whether the government had the original copies of the Sugauli Treaty and the 1950 Nepal-India Peace and Friendship Treaty.
