Nepal, Aug. 21 -- Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has said the government is positive about creating a legal framework for the commercial cultivation and medicinal use of cannabis.

Responding to questions raised by National Assembly members on Friday, Wagle said the Ministry of Finance would facilitate the process of legalizing cannabis cultivation.

He said cannabis production and marketing should be studied and regulated not only for its potential to generate employment, income and revenue, but also for medicinal purposes.

Wagle said the government would coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs to develop a legal framework based on studies and recommendations from experts.
