Nepal, April 7 -- The government has approved the use of 46.39 hectares of forest land in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Makwanpur districts for the Kathmandu-Terai-Madhesh Fast-Track highway project.

The cabinet meeting on Monday also granted permission to cut 18,898 trees to facilitate construction.

In parallel, administrative restructuring plans include relocating the Water and Energy Research Centre from Pulchowk, Lalitpur, to Godawari-3 and transferring the Secretariat of the Water and Energy Commission to the vacated building.

Additionally, the government has accepted a concessional loan of $85 million from the World Bank to support the Greater Lumbini Area Development Fund.
