KATHMANDU, Sept. 28 -- Nepal Police is maintaining constant surveillance on escaped prisoners from various jails across the country. The prisoners fled during the Gen-Z protest on September 9.
Deputy Inspector General of the Nepal Police, Binod Ghimire, said out of the total escaped prisoners, only 8,000 had returned to the jails. As many as six thousand are still on the run, so even the public needs to be aware of the safety situation.
Security awareness is especially important during festival times. "Some inmates are known to be notorious thieves and dacoits. They may seek revenge in their respective areas related to the cases against them. Therefore, everyone needs to remain highly vigilant," he emphasized.
