Nepal, Oct. 16 -- Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday plummeted 18.40 points to close at 2,487.17 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,505.58 points and surged to the day's high at 2,522.6 points in the first six minutes of trading. The market however reached the day's low at 2,479.67 points when trading time was left for three minutes. In the remaining period before the market closed for the day, it recovered around eight points.

Only banking and mutual funds added 0.35 points and 0.04 points, respectively. Of the 11 losers, life insurance shed the highest of 101.06 points.
