Nepal, July 29 -- Chandra Kant Raut, chair of the Janamat Party, has questioned the government's handling of the recent violence in Dewanganj, Sunsari, accusing the state and security agencies of failing to prevent growing social tensions in the Madhesh region.

Raut claimed that an environment was being created that weakens social and communal harmony in Madhesh, and expressed dissatisfaction with the role of state institutions.

"The Nepali Army, Nepal Police and the country's rulers want exactly this, that Madheshis, Indigenous nationalities, Muslims, Tharus and Dalits never unite, that riots spread across Madhesh and bloodshed takes place," he said.
