Nepal, April 1 -- Youth leader Suhang Nembang of the CPN-UML sought to contest for the party's parliamentary party leader, but the party leadership intervened during the process.

Following the intervention of party General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, UML lawmakers refused to stand as proposer or seconder for Suhang.

During the meeting held Wednesday afternoon at the party's central office in Chyasal, both Suhang and party Vice-Chair Ram Bahadur Thapa had claimed the position of parliamentary party leader. Badal had made his claim in line with the preference of the party leadership.
