Nigeria, Aug. 20 -- US President Donald Trump has announced that his administration was imposing the "most crushing economic operation" on Iran, a move analysts say shows the frustration of the American leader as his government makes no progress in the Iran war.

In a post on Truth Social early Thursday, Mr Trump said the sanctions will target "any country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to provide any type of lifeline to Iran."

The US has imposed tough economic sanctions on Iran for over 40 years, and it remains to be seen how this new announcement will make any difference.
