Nigeria, Oct. 9 -- A motorist escaped unhurt after a train struck his Honda car at the PWD railway crossing in Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has said.

According to a statement posted on X by LASTMA, the train was travelling towards Agege when it collided with a Honda car, registration number EKY 902 JT.

A photograph from the scene shared by the agency shows a part of the car crushed by the train. But no injuries or deaths were reported.

The statement noted that LASTMA operatives and security personnel rescued the 55-year-old driver and cleared the wreckage from the tracks, allowing the train to continue its journey.
