Nigeria, March 5 -- The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Renewable Energy has announced support for the plan to establish Nigeria's first dedicated Green and Climate Finance Bank, describing it as a strategic vehicle to unlock billions of dollars in climate-smart investments and accelerate the country's transition to clean energy.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the committee chairperson, Afam Ogene (LP, Anambra), said the proposed institution would mobilise long-term capital for renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, green buildings, sustainable transport, waste management and other environmentally sustainable ventures.
