Nigerian Army investigates sexual abuse allegation against serving officer
Nigeria, Sept. 12 -- The Nigerian Army said it has launched an investigation into an allegation of sexual abuse involving a serving officer, Etim Essien, currently serving at the Headquarters of 3 Division in Jos, Plateau State.
The division's spokesperson, Olumide Olukoya, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
Mr Olukoya, a captain, said the army takes allegations of sexual abuse seriously, particularly cases involving minors and other vulnerable persons.
He did not give details about the age of the victim involved.
"Accordingly, appropriate steps have been initiated to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the reported incident," he stated.
