Nigeria, July 14 -- A Nigerian military spokesperson has contradicted the claim made by a top US official that a 'large haul' of electronic materials was seized from terrorists in Nigeria and extracted from the country by US forces.

Nigeria's Director of Defence Information, Samalia Uba, told PREMIUM TIMES that the intelligence cache was not seized by US authorities from terrorists but voluntarily released to the US by the Nigerian government as part of an ongoing security cooperation.

Mr Uba, in an interview with our reporter, said the materials, which contained declassified information on previous counter-terrorism operations by the Nigerian Armed Forces, were voluntarily "given" to the US.
