Nigeria, June 8 -- The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has launched the Meta-Supported Initiative for Data Protection (M-SIDP), a programme that enhances strategic guardrails for data subjects.

NDPC, which oversees data privacy protection in Nigeria, disclosed on Monday in a statement by Itunu Dosekun, the head of its media unit.

The initiative follows an investigation by the commission into Meta Platforms, Inc.'s processing practices in Nigeria, which was concluded in 2025 through a court-approved settlement.
