Nigeria, March 31 -- A major political realignment is unfolding in Kaduna State following the resignation of former governorship candidate, Isa Ashiru, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter dated 27 March, Mr Ashiru formally notified the party's leadership in the ward of his decision to quit the PDP, citing deep-rooted internal crises.
"After a careful reflection over the persistent internal leadership crisis, conflicts, rancour, and divisions within the party, it has become increasingly difficult for me to continue to participate actively as a member of the party," he wrote.
"This decision is personal and taken in good faith. Please kindly accept this letter as my formal notice of resignation from the Party (PDP)."
