Nigeria, Sept. 30 -- The Gusau International Airport (GIA) in Zamfara State has passed the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)'s quality assurance tests and inspections just days before it begins commercial operations next month.

This development followed ongoing plans to begin commercial operations at the airport, with biweekly flights from Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to Gusau Airport on Mondays and Fridays.

The airport's Instrument Flight Procedures were subjected to ICAO's 17-step Quality Assurance and approval process, and the airport had completed and passed all of them, an official of one of the leading Nigerian aviation agencies said.
