Gas Flare: Foundation trains Akwa Ibom oil community on how to demand environmental remediation
Nigeria, July 2 -- Residents of Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, an oil-producing local government area of Akwa Ibom State, have been urged to demand accountability in the management of gas flare funds earmarked for environmental remediation, as concerns grow over the ecological impact of decades of oil and gas production in the area.
The call was made on Tuesday during a community engagement organised by the Ibom Peoples Empowerment and Ecosystem Restoration (PEER) Foundation under its Unlock2Remediate Project in Okoroette, the headquarters of Eastern Obolo.
