Coalition warns against threats to civic space in aftermath of SSS' N100m judgement against SERAP
Nigeria, May 14 -- A coalition of civil society organisations has raised concerns over what it described as growing threats to judicial transparency, civic freedoms and constitutional governance in Nigeria, amid controversy surrounding a defamation judgement given against the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).
In a statement on Wednesday, the coalition said the circumstances surrounding the case raise broader questions about due process, access to judicial records, and the protection of constitutional rights in matters of public interest.
