Nigeria, Aug. 26 -- The All Progressives Congress (APC) has escalated its dispute with Abayomi Hunye over the party's governorship ticket in Ogun State by petitioning the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, to investigate, arrest and prosecute the governorship aspirant for allegedly presenting himself as the party's candidate.

The petition, dated 24 August and submitted at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, marks a new phase in the disagreement over the APC's nomination process in Ogun State, after the party publicly disowned Mr Hunye and reaffirmed Ogun West senator, Solomon Olamilekan, popularly known as Yayi, as its candidate for the January 2027 election.
