Nigeria, June 10 -- The Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, has recounted the challenges he and other leaders of the upper chamber faced during the suspension of Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing the episode as a major distraction from the chamber's legislative activities.

Mr Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District, said that at the time, major news platforms across Nigeria were largely focused on debates over whether the suspension was justified, rather than informing Nigerians about the laws and reforms the Senate was pursuing to promote national development.
