Nigeria, Sept. 1 -- A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Turaki, has endorsed a proposal by some opposition politicians in the country to field a single presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

The faction, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said presenting a single candidate against President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is necessary to defeat the ruling party in the forthcoming election.
