Nigeria, Oct. 8 -- Senator Diket Plang (APC-Plateau Central) has warned politicians against attempting to influence or determine who becomes governor of Plateau State in the 2027 election from outside the state.

Mr Plang said the people of Plateau must be allowed to freely choose their governor, arguing that allowing external political interests to dictate the outcome would undermine the state's political independence and its leadership role in the Middle Belt.

The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Employment, Labour and Productivity, made the remarks in Jos while responding to questions on political developments ahead of the 2027 elections.
