Nigeria, Oct. 25 -- The Commandant-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Aminu Daurawa, says he will not campaign for any politician in the 2027 general elections.

Mr Daurawa expressed his stance in a message he published on his Facebook page on Saturday.

The Islamic cleric's position follows ongoing criticism of his inclusion in the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign advisory committee in Kano.

PREMIUM TIMES reported that Mr Daurawa and Abdullahi Saleh Pakistan, a former chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), are among the Islamic clerics listed on the committee.

Their inclusion raised questions about religious leaders' involvement in partisan politics.
