Australia, July 30 -- Alstom, global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has delivered the first of 100 Next Generation G Class Trams (NGT) into passenger service in Melbourne, Australia. This marks the start of delivery for a €700 million contract awarded to Alstom in 2022. Alstom will maintain the fleet from a purpose-built facility in Maidstone, Melbourne.The NGT program is at the heart of the Australian rail industry, with a nation-leading 65 percent of local tram content. Built at Alstom's Dandenong site, the NGT program has supported more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs.
