Luxembourg, Dec. 8 -- Jan De Nul is commissioning two high-tech simulators at its Aalst office this December, according to the company. The key addition is a crane simulator designed for installing offshore wind farms, a process made more complex as turbine tip heights reach 300 metres and beyond.The system functions as a digital twin of the vessels Les Alizes and Voltaire, which install the latest generation of wind turbines and foundations that can span the size of a football field and weigh up to two thousand tonnes.The company says the simulator enables teams to rehearse each step of these operations in a safe, realistic setting.
