Pakistan, March 17 -- ClassNK has certified Salam's International in Pakistan as the first ship recycling facility in the country verified for compliance with the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, 2009, according to ClassNK. The certification paves the way for Pakistan's competent authority to issue the Document of Authorization to conduct Ship Recycling (DASR), the permit required under the Convention allowing a facility to carry out dismantling operations under its safety and environmental standards.
