India, May 4 -- Vote counting for the high-stakes West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 is progressing, with both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All India Trinamool Congress registering their first confirmed victories even as trends continue to favour the BJP.

According to the latest data released by the Election Commission of India, the BJP has maintained a strong lead across the state, ahead in 192 out of 293 seats, while the TMC is leading in 96 constituencies.

The first declared wins saw BJP's Saikat Panja secure the Monteswar seat with a margin of over 14,000 votes. On the other hand, TMC's Reyat Hossain Sarkar won the Bhagawangola seat with a decisive margin exceeding 56,000 votes.
