India, May 13 -- Suvendu Adhikari took oath as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in West Bengal following the Bharatiya Janata Party's sweeping victory in the 2026 Assembly elections.

Adhikari, who recently became the first BJP Chief Minister of West Bengal, won from both the Nandigram and Bhabanipur constituencies in the Assembly elections.

Before entering the Assembly premises, Adhikari bowed before the steps of the Legislative Assembly as a mark of respect. He was also accorded a guard of honour during the proceedings.

Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh also took oath as MLA from the Kharagpur Sadar constituency during the Assembly session.
