India, May 4 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has crossed the 200-seat mark in the West Bengal Assembly Election Results 2026, moving well beyond the halfway majority threshold of 148 seats, according to the latest counting trends.
The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is facing a significant setback and is trailing far behind in early results, in what is shaping up to be a major political shift in the state after 15 years of TMC rule.
The BJP has already secured 11 seats and is leading in 189 constituencies, while the TMC is struggling to maintain double-digit leads as counting progresses across 293 seats.
