India, Sept. 24 -- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that Washington is actively working to resolve the "sanctions situation" with India over its continued purchase of Russian oil, even as punitive tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump remain in place.
Speaking to NBC News, Rubio expressed frustration at European countries still buying large quantities of Russian energy, calling it "absurd," and pointed to India as a major focus of the Biden administration's efforts to curb energy trade with Moscow.
"We've already seen the measures we've taken with regards to India, although that's something we hope we can fix," Rubio said.
